First Flutters

WK 17 and I felt my first flutters! What an amazing thing to have a baby living and growing inside of you and to be able to feel it, when it's so little...amazing. It felt just like my friends and doctors explained, tiny popcorn kernels popping or someone softly flicking you. Despite my growing belly (and growing other parts ;) , it just now is starting to feel real to me. "I'm really going to have a baby!!!"

I hope Baby Shempp continues to make it's presence known. There is nothing, right now, that brings me more happiness than these brief little "dates" we are having. Baby Shempp seems to have somewhat of a schedule...each day around 2:30- 3:00pm, just as I'm starting to crash from staring at my computer screen, he starts moving and grooving. I'll feel it about 2 or 3 times and that's about it. Hopefully, these little "dates" we are having will increase in frequency soon! How can you love someone so much already?

Week 17: Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

His, Mine and Ours

This weekend was a productive one on the "house front". We are FINALLY very close to finishing our outdoor living space! YEA! TV's... Check, Furniture... Check, Surround Sound... Double Check! Despite the cold front that rolled into Texas last night, we made root beer floats (the new nightcap!), grabbed a blanket and watched a movie out on our new patio last night. It was awesome. There is still a bit of work to be done, but at least it's usable and we love it!

We have also been doing some work on the inside of the house. I've finished furnishing the "her" living room/dinning room, or what Pete lovingly calls "the fancy room". So now we have a "her" living room, a "his" living room and an "our" living room. Excess...I know :)

OURS
We have also done some work in the kitchen. I can't get over the difference a couple cans of paint and some curtains make in a room. Love it!

Making Progress

Week 16! I can hardly believe it has been 4 months already...just 24 weeks to go! I'm feeling great and loving that I'm beginning to look pregnant and not just like I ate too much for lunch :) We head back to the Doctor April 4th for a routine check and then again on April 18th for our next sonogram. We are hoping at this appointment the little one will reveal if it is a boy or a girl! I know Grammy Cline's premonition and the Doctors first glance would say it's a boy, but I'm still looking forward to a little more confirmation!

Back porch is coming along, just a few more days and we should be BBQing...pictures to come this weekend. The weather here has been gorgeous, a balming 80 degrees most days, so we are really looking forward to spending more time outside. We are also looking forward to Auntie Jaqueline's visit in a few short weeks.

Let the Blogging begin!

2010 was a year of much change for the Shempp family; new jobs, a move to Texas from Arkansas, along with the selling of the old and purchasing of the new house. In typically “Shempp Fashion”, 2011 is proving no different. We started off the New Year with news of a belated Christmas present…a baby on the way! For what seems like a long time of patiently praying & waiting, we are happy to announce that Baby Shempp will arrive (on or around) September 7th 2011. Peter and I could not be happier for this gift. We are already busy planning and discussing this little one’s arrival.

I've set up this blog (because yes, it is the thing to do now) as well as to keep in touch with all our friends and family who unfortunately are living far from us. We have met so many great people through these last 30 or so years (gulp!) & 5 states (double gulp!)... we want to continue to share our lives with you special people. So this is for you! I hope you enjoy a peak into our lives and can help us celebrate our new life adventures.
