All that is NEW!

This past week, in preparation for Baby's arrival (in 5 quick weeks), we worked our bums off getting the house ready.  Our credit card, getting most of the workout ;)  We found a Bob Stroller on Craigslist for a steal (thanks to my negotiating hubby!) as well as bought ourselves a new, high tech camera that we have no idea how to work it yet, but we are practicing!  We also organized the storage room with shelving units and cleaned out and organized the garage. I think Pete is nesting as much as I am...and I'm so thankful.  It feels great to have the house in order and most of the major purchases out of the way.  Here are some pics of the all the stuff, taken with the new camera!  It's like Christmas around here....To Me: From Me :)

Strollers are the new handbag...you can never have too many ;)

I had such grand plans for the foyer at one time...a lovely sitting area with framed art work and an upholstered bench...now it has become the stroller nook.  Oh well...

The "unfinished" nursery. Still waiting on pictures for the wall, the dresser and a rug...stay tuned...

Bayer Baby Shower

In my office of 30, there are currently 3 pregnant women (10%, pretty large ratio!). The 3 of us have named ourselves the 'Plano-Preggos' :)  Myself and co-worker, Antje, are due only 2 weeks apart; her with a girl, me with a boy.   The office graciously threw us a combo baby shower, filled with cake, punch, and plenty of gifts.  It was a surprise and I actually was! I feel very lucky to have such great co-workers. Thanks Bayer Gang!

Are Boy Babies bigger than Girl Babies? This picture would suggest "Yes"!

31 Weeks

Third trimester and 31 weeks! We are in the home stretch. Doctor Branning says baby is measuring right at 31 weeks and is head down in preparation for arrival.  He told me I have about 6 weeks to get things in order and than it's time to sit back and relax while we wait on baby to arrive! We are starting to collect all the necessary equipment, crib..check, car seat...check, stroller...check, check! We also started our Lamaze and Birthing class this past Friday...so I guess it's time to have a baby! My belly is stretching to it's maximum capacity and baby is getting tight in there.  Just 8.5 short weeks to go and you'll be here little one...quicker than a blink of an eye.  Nursery isn't ready yet...but Mommy and Daddy are!

Family Baby Shower

This past weekend, we flew home to Ohio for a 'big' family baby shower.  We had an amazing turn out of our closest family and friends, about 50 guests!  Deborah and Jacqueline put on quite an event with a puppy dog theme that matched our nursery; no detail left undone.  We can't thank everyone enough for coming. Peter and I had an amazing time and are counting down the days (only 9 weeks left!) for baby's arrival.

Hagan Wedding/ Babymoon

Peter and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico.  We were there to celebrate my high school friend, Kari's, wedding as well as get away for a few days before baby arrives!  We had a great time meeting some new friends and enjoying time with some old ones ;) Kari, Alyssa and I have known each other since grade school and have been close friends ever since. We email weekly and have gone through all of life's ups and downs together.  It was so great to be together (physically...not just virtually, for once) and to be celebrating a great "up" in Kari's life.  We love her new hubby, Tom, and we so happy to have him a part of our "crazy gang".  Kari, Tom, I wish you all the happiness!

Happy 2nd Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to Peter, the man of my dreams, my best friend, and soon to be father of our child.  I can't believe it has been 2 years since our dream Cabo wedding and 8 years (to the date) from the day we met. I had just turned 22 when I met Peter in Westport, CT.  Doesn't that seem so young?!?! What a ride it has been and I'm thankful for each day that we have together.  We have grown so much as individuals and as a couple.  I'm so excited for our future together.

To celebrate our 2nd anniversary, Peter planned a trip down to Austin, TX.  Neither of us had ever been to Austin before, and we were looking forward to exploring a new city. Unfortunately, the trip never happened.  We came home Friday night to a broken water heater, which being located in our attic, had leaked into our very newly painted nursery :( Pete was able to get the water turned off to the house and we thought we had it stopped, but Saturday morning we found more damage to the ceiling. We called the plumber who was able to come out, and at least, get our one working water heater hooked up for hot water. The dry wall repair guy should hopefully come out tomorrow and let us know about the wall damage. So, long story short...we stayed at home to bail water and scrap drywall ;)

(Thanks Kurt and Katie for the bathtub (aka...fan prop) you sent...very useful already ;)
Once the damage was controlled we did enjoy a day at the pool and a nice dinner out downtown. We still had a wonderful anniversary and are thankful that the "set back" wasn't worse.  This nursery should be in tip top shape by the time little Shempp arrives ;) Only 13 more weeks!!!
