6 Months

Happy 1/2 year birthday James!

6 months old. Time continues to tick by so quickly. You had your 6 month check up last Monday and here are your stats:
Height: 26.5 (45%)
Weight: 16 lbs (21%)
Head 16.8 in (31%)

You had been pretty sick the week before your appointment with an ear infection (yes, that makes 3 so far) and a croupy cough. So unfortunately, with all that coughing you had a pretty sore throat and had not been eating great, hence your very little weight gain from last month.  Dr. Terry isn't worried and said you should pick right back up soon.  You have met all your developmental milestones and surpassed many! You are rolling over both ways, scooting on your tummy to get around, sitting up (pretty much without assistance) and eating solid foods. You are really doing great with solids, eating oatmeal cereal, peas and prunes so far once a day.  You are not a regular "poo"er so the prunes are your insurance plan ;)

You are mommy's WONDERFUL sleeper! Once we got you out of that swaddle and you flipped yourself onto your tummy, you've been sleeping from 7-6:30 every night! You are still eating every 3-4 hours (7,10,1,4,7) depending on your naps and napping at home at 9, 1 & 3ish for 1-2 hrs. You don't nap as much at daycare...too much going on :) You still love a paci to sleep with as well as your monkey friend, whom you love and get very excited when you see it in your crib. So sweet ;)

You continue to babble, but no real words yet. You love your jump-a-roo, taking baths, going to the dog park with Charlie, and taking walks in the Baby Bjorn.  You will ride in the Bob Stroller, but only for a little while. You much prefer being able to move around. You have so much energy and are constantly on the go. I can only imagine my fatigue once you are mobile...Lord help me!

You are such a fun and lovable little boy and of course....adorable! Your wild temper, infectious smile, and sweetness make you YOU! I love you so much. Happy 6 months James.

What...I didn't pull Charlie's hair?!

This is my modeling face ;)

Our Love Story

Stealing an idea from my friend Annie.  Fun to reminisce during Valentines Day!
1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
This June will be 10 years

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
I had just moved to Connecticut for my first job out of college with Playtex Products.  On my third day there, a co-worker of mine (and friend from college) was having a going away party, as she was about to take a new job in Minneapolis.  We went to Viva's in Westport, this hole in the wall Mexican joint with a great outdoor deck and $15 margaritas (that I could not afford to drink!). While mingling around, feeling a bit out of place, not knowing anyone...my friend Cara introduced me to another Ohioian, Peter.   I remember talking about how I was constantly lost and had yet to buy a map (no GPS's or Iphone yet!). Pete said "I have a great map that is easy to follow. Why don't you come over this weekend and get it from me". I did...and the rest is history. So yes, it all started with expensive margaritas and a map.
2005
3. If married, how long have you been married?
We have been married 2 years. June 5th, 2009

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?
We had a wonderful, week long celebration in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with 40 of our closest family and friends.

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
I just call him "Babe" and now Daddy

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
He is passionate about everything in life; his work, me, his friends & family
He is very motivated and a hard worker
He is loving, sweet and affectionate

7. Tell us how he proposed?
He told me a few weeks before New Years 2007, that he had planned a surprise vacation to ring in the New Year. I didn't know where we were going, but he told me to pack my bikini! We flew into Key West, Florida and pulled up to this fabulous resort, Casa Del Mar.  That evening we drove to the pier and took a ferry ride to a nearby island where we had reservations at this wonderful restaurant called Latitudes.  After a delicious meal, desert was brought out on a covered tray.  When the lid was lifted, this is what I found!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
He has done both, so hard to choose...but he knows I love champagne so that is usually a good bet ;)

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Definitely sunset on the beach....we have a beach tradition. Got engaged and married in the sand.

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Travel to Europe.  We talked about it before kiddos and never got the chance. Someday we will travel more.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
We are staying in! Dinner at home Tuesday night. Then we are spending the day together during our Monday off, heading downtown Dallas for lunch and maybe a movie.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
Just for Pete to be home. Spending the day with my boys, that's all I want.

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Make each other a priority, no matter WHAT! This has not been an easy thing this year with the birth of James, going back to work, etc. but we are really making a effort not to lose the "spark"...not to miss date night...and never forget about the love we have for each other.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.
Seeing Peter as a dad has been one of my greatest joys.
Happy Valentines Day Babe! I love you so much. Thanks for making me the happiest women alive.

Cupid Attack

I'm having one of those days, where I can't seem to focus on what I'm supposed to be doing.  I'm going through old pictures on my phone and on my blog, looking at baby James, just days old.   I walk down the hall to a co-worker's office, she has a baby too, so I know I can talk about James and she "gets it".  I'm calling Pete on the phone every hour just to say hello.  He has been on the road all week and I'm not quite used to our normal "back-to-reality-after-baby" travel routine.

Maybe cupid has hit me a week early or maybe it's just a case of the 'Thursdays', but with 4 days of James at daycare and daddy on the road, has me really missing my boys.

Baby Favorites

After reading one of my favorite author's blogs (See Shauna Neiquist's blog), I decided that I would steal her idea and post some of my Baby Favorites.  I have so many friends who are new to mommyhood, like me, or who are about to become a momma soon, so I thought I would share my "two cents" about what I can't live without!

1.) Miracle Blanket- as we all know....I have a son who was addicted to his swaddle. Yes, WAS, he is finally out of the swaddle! However, the Miracle Blanket is a must have for newborns.  It truly is a mircle and a good night of sleep is guaranteed!
2.) Wabanub- Pacifiers with stuffed animals on the end...Genius!
3.) Target- Carters 'Just One You' Blanket. Soft, Cuddly, and just enough warmth.
4.) Discovery Toys- great for baby development, lots of colors, textures and sounds to keep baby busy.
5.) Peutnuia Pickle Bottom Diaper Bag- great for traveling with a fold out changing pad and plenty of space for bottles, burp cloths, toys, etc.
6.) Marpac Sound Machine- portable and perfect for the nursery.
7.) Sophie- $20 chew toy (enough said!)
8.) Sandra Boynton Books (Snuggle Puppy, Pookie and Pajama Time are the best)
9.) Summer Baby Touch Monitor- like your Iphone...only better!
10.) Inchbug bottle labels- rubber-bands for around bottles or cups, personalized for on the go!
11.) A baby bath robe...not practical...just cute ;)

Thighs like his momma ;)
Happy Shopping Mommies!
