Merry Christmas from the Shempp's!

Such a blessed 2014!

9 Months

9 months with both boys, has felt like a big milestone; as many months in...as out :) I have known you for 18 months now. WOW.  From the moment you were conceived I knew you (well okay, at first I was sure you were a girl) but soon after we found out BOY, the image of you became so tangible and I felt very connected to you.  You solidified my title of "Mom of Boys" and I was in love!

...and speaking of BOY, you are all that and more.  Rough and tumble, lover of balls, dogs, wheels and dirt.  You have an arm like a left fielder and can tackle like a linebacker (do line backers tackle??? I don't even know- this mom of boys has a lot to learn ;).  You are certainly on the move and ready to take on the world.  You're a crawling machine and pulling up and cruising all the furniture.  You are getting the hang of your push walker and prefer our help to walk vs. crawl.

You are a Momma's boy! I can't be in the room and not have you in my arms.  Deep down...I kind of love it, because I remember how fleeting this is.  Soon you'll turn into a toddler and it will be all about Daddy and doing "dude stuff". Right now though, you prefer me and every few minutes after playing or exploring, you'll come find me for a little momma refuel :) My arms are tired but my heart is full.

and oh...that hair ;)

You are FINALLY eating food! You started in your new class at school and have decided that if your friends are going to eat, so will you.  You are now having 3 meals a day and enjoying a mixture of purees and finger foods.  You are slow to warm up to new tastes and texture and appear to be quite picky.  Your favorites are cheerios, crackers, pasta, ham, hotdogs and applesauce.  You'll  eat pretty much whatever puree I give you.

You are still taking 5 bottles (6 oz each) every 3 hours.  We are trying to move to 4 now that you're eating better during the day.

Schedule: Wake at 6:00, naps at 9:30 & 2:30, bedtime at 7:30.

Stats:
Weight= 23.5lbs
Height=29.5 inches

You got your eat tubes earlier in month and have had very little sickness since;  just a few colds and pink eye.  Thanking God daily for good health.

Happy 9 month my little big man :)

8 Months

8 months big boy! Wow what a month it has been.  You grew up literally over night and are now a talking, crawling and cruising little man.  In a matter of days, you went from scootching to crawling, to crawling FAST, to pulling to a stand and taking a few cruising steps around the furniture.  It's truly amazing. I thought you would be slower to 'get up and go' because of your size...but oh no, you're as strong as an ox and motivated to get to where your brother (or Charlie) are playing.  Since you've accomplished your goals of mobility we have had a much happier boy on our hands. You also, very distinctly, say Dada and Mama and are working on Dog and Ball.  Big Boy!

Those dark gorgeous eyes... watch out ladies ;)
Before he dove...

Eating: still a 'no go' on much solid food.  You'll eat 2 meals at school but absolutely refuse to eat anything but cheerios and veggie sticks at home.  You scream if a spoon comes near you and you have no interest in picking up anything besides cheerios.  You're still taking 5 bottles and seem completly content by the 40 oz of milk!!! I'm giving you.  I guess all in your own time...

Sleeping: has been steady with 2 naps (9 & 3) about 2 hours each at home.  At school 2; 45min naps.  Bedtime around 7:15/7:30pm and up slightly early these days around 6:00am.

Growth: you're still topping the charts at 23lbs and tall (not sure how tall we will find out next month). You are wearing all 12-18 months clothes and in a size 4 diaper.

You have had yet another ear infection this month (that makes 4) so we are headed in this Thursday for ear tubes.  I'm praying you have as much success with them as your brother did.  He has only had 1 ear infection (age 3) since getting his at 7 months.  Prayers for the same for you.

Trick or Treat!

Another great memory stashed away in the books.  Everett's first Halloween, pumpkin carving and James dominating treat or treat for the second year.  We had a great time hosting friends for some 'drinks and treats' ahead of time and then ventured out for a trip around the block to hit up our neighbors for candy.  Our little fireman and firedog were great and stayed up way to late on a sugar high :)

 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
